Jesus is the Hero of the Old Testament

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

Matthew 5:17 NKJV

When we read about David fighting Goliath in the Old Testament, who do you think is the protagonist of the story? We naturally would answer that it is David. Maybe we would take the moral of the story and say that we can identify with David and fight our Giants. How about Joseph the man of integrity experiencing injustice and in the end was raised by God to be ruler of all Egypt. What if I would tell you that they all point to Jesus and who He will be. These heroes and many others are easter eggs, glimpses, foreshadows of the Messiah and His work. Typological Prophesies is the term for these. It can be one of the patriarchs or an event in the Old Testament or even the decorations of the Tabernacle giving a picture of Jesus as the Messiah. The Bible then, Old Testament and New both are sharing the same message. The the eternal gospel that tells us we severed our relationship with God, yet God sending a Hero to fight our giant. He faced injustice at the cross for our injustice, buried and raised by God to be ruler not just of Egypt but the world.

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—

Revelation 14:6 NKJV

Seeking out the Typological Prophecies will be the thrust for future studies of this series . It is astonishing that it comprises the whole Jewish Scriptures not just parts of it. Passages that were written hundreds if not thousand of years before Jesus arrived here on earth. One thing to note that the odds of a person fulfilling just 8 of these prophecies is one in a quadrillion. Jesus fulfilled at least 300 which tells us that God keeps His promises. He is true to His Word. For now, a quick overview of some specific predictions is as follows and it will show us Jesus fulfilling what was told about the Messiah.

God keeps His promises. And He will continue to keep His promises to you and His people.

For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Matthew 5:18 NKJV
